3 Simple Steps For Creating Solutions Out Of Your ADHD Challenges

Uncategorized May 07, 2021

A while back I interviewed a handful of ADHD moms and learned that overwhelm is hands down their biggest challenge.

I already knew this but it confirmed my suspicion.

You see, through a lifetime of seeking an answer to my own overwhelm, I discovered that clarity is the cure.

What I’ve learned is that clarity is the name of the game when it comes to reducing overwhelm and staying focused on what's important. Clarity saves time and the agony of indecision. Clarity keeps me off the hamster wheel and fully in my life because I know what to say yes to and what to say no to.

It’s a game-changer for moms with ADHD.

When you are clear about what you want you are better able to make decisions.  Yes, I love this.  No, I don’t love that.

I mean, between managing our own ADHD, helping our kids manage theirs, school, activities, therapies, executive functioning issues, dealing with insurance companies, not to mention living in a world made for neurotypical minds, we tend to have lots of challenges.

Seriously, living a vision driven life is brilliant for moms with ADHD. It gives our ADHD minds something interesting and important to focus on, and makes decision making a breeze...buh bye overwhelm.

3 Simple Steps For Creating Solutions Out Of Your ADHD Challenges

Grab a piece of paper and draw a vertical line down the middle.  Write Yes on the left side of the line and no on the right

Or, download the Overwhelm Cure Guide at www.overwhelmcureguide.com for simplicity.

1 CLARIFY – Ask yourself:  What do I know for sure?  What are my absolutes - absolute yeses and absolute nos?  Write your absolute yeses in the yes column and your nos in the no column.  (It’s ok if your no list is longer.)

2 CONVERT – Turn your nos into solutions or desired outcomes.  When you’ve created a solution or desired outcome out of a no, cross it off the no list and add the solution to the yes list.

Ex.

Overwhelmed becomes overflowing

Unfocused becomes Clear

Anxious becomes Trusting

Tired becomes Well-Rested

Worried becomes Relaxed

Apprehensive becomes Confident

Nervous becomes Calm

3 CONSULT – Use your Absolute YES list as a guide when determining the steps necessary to achieve the outcomes you want and to help you make decisions along the way.  If it’s not an absolute yes it’s a no.

What do you do to manage overwhelm?

Shine Brightly,

Tracy
